Quality & Materials

Know what your furniture is made of.

Every product page lists its exact weave material and frame. Here's what those terms mean.

Natural rattan

A climbing palm harvested as solid poles. Strong and flexible when steamed and bent. Used for frames and woven surfaces on indoor pieces.

Where it belongs: Best indoors or under a covered roof. Sensitive to prolonged sun, rain and very dry heat.

Cane

The thin outer skin of rattan, cut into strips and hand-woven into open patterns for chair backs and cabinet panels.

Where it belongs: Indoor use. Lightly mist occasionally in very dry rooms to keep it supple.

Seagrass

A natural grass twisted into cord, used in baskets and storage pieces.

Where it belongs: Indoor use. Keep dry.

Synthetic resin wicker

A polyethylene strand woven over powder-coated aluminum frames. Made for open-air patio furniture.

Where it belongs: Designed for outdoor use; store cushions dry and clean periodically.

Construction

Frames are hardwood, rattan pole or powder-coated aluminum depending on the product. Load-bearing joints are wrapped and secured before weaving begins.

Finishing

Natural pieces are sanded and finished to an even tone. Natural materials vary slightly in color and texture from piece to piece.

Durability & care

How long furniture lasts depends on use, placement and care. Follow the care notes on each product page, keep natural materials out of the weather and avoid harsh cleaners.
